Saturday, August 31
Upon arrival in Stockholm’s Arlanda airport, we will go through customs, gather our luggage, and take the escalator down to board the Arlanda Express. After a quick (speeds exceeding 100mph) train ride, we will arrive at Stockholm’ s Central Station. It will be a short two-block walk to the 2022 ‘Travelers Choice’ Sheraton where we will call ’home’ for 2 nights. We will meet our Stockholm native guide, Anna, for FIKA. Then, she will show us her lovely city of islands, Stockholm. It’s known as the “Venice of the North,” and it is one of the most inclusive and welcoming cities in the world. We will end our day with an exceptional dinner in Gamla Stan (Old Town) which is one of the largest and best preserved medieval city centers in Europe. (D)

Sunday, September 1
We will start our day with a relaxing breakfast at the 360 Restaurant before joining Anna for full day of exploration. We will take a charming sea vessel ride through a few of the more than 30,000 islands that make up the Archipelago. During the day, enjoy the sights of the Archipelago and the island of Djurgarden. Along the way, we will have lunch at the Rosendals Garden, enjoying the beauty of flower gardens, apple trees, wine gardens and much more. On Djurgarden, we will visit the ABBA museum, the Skansen Open-Air museum, and the renowned Vasa museum. After a full day of sightseeing, we will enjoy a fabulous, authentic Swedish dinner. (B, D)

Monday, September 2
After an ‘eat your fill’ breakfast, we will spend our last few hours in Stockholm visiting the Royal Palace — home to His Majesty, the King. At 2:00 PM, we will board the high speed train to travel to our next Scandinavian country, Denmark and the marvelous city of Copenhagen. We will disembark the train, gather our belongings, and walk to the 5-star Marriott, ideally located right on the Sydhavnen — Copenhagen’s largest canal. Enjoy an evening meal in the second city of our tour before relaxing in our beautiful hotel. (B, D)

Tuesday, September 3
Enjoy a hearty breakfast buffet at the Midtown Breakfast Restaurant. Prepare to be amazed by the stunning crown jewels nestled in the Rosenborg Castle. Originally built as a summer house in 1606, the castle boasts a moat and gardens. Immerse yourself in Danish grandeur as you take in the royal reception rooms, the tower, the stables, and the kitchen of the Christiansborg Castle. Our day will also include a visit to the Little Mermaid Statue, as well as Kastellet, otherwise known as the Citadel, which is one of the best preserved fortresses in Northern Europe. We will conclude our royal day at the Tivoli Gardens where we will dine together, walk through the gardens, and perhaps enjoy an outdoor concert. (B, D)

Wednesday, September 4
After enjoying a breakfast buffet, be sure to put your sailing hats on! We start with boating through the Canals of Copenhagen and touring the beautiful revitalized seaman’s area of Nyhavn. This afternoon, we board the DFDS Ferry for our overnight cruise to Oslo, the city of islands. This is not your ordinary ‘ferry’.  You will each have your own cabin and will get to enjoy dinner and breakfast in different restaurants, along evening entertainment. As you prepare to relax at the end of the night, delight in your sweet dreams of these Scandinavian countries, and you will wake up in Oslo, Norway. (B, D)

Thursday, September 5
Rise and shine! Grab breakfast and a warm coat and head out to the deck for a scenic view of the Oslofjord as we approach Oslo. It’s time to visit another Scandinavian country! A leisurely walk from the cruise harbor will lead to the 2022 ‘Travelers Choice’ Amerikalinjen hotel where we will spend the next two nights. In 1919, this hotel was the office building for the world-renowned Norwegian American Cruse Line cruise ship company. Today it is a tribute to Norway’s glamorous seafaring history. We will find our way to the rooftop of Oslo Opera House and make a few stops to admire several prominent Oslo landmarks, such as the brand new area of Bjorvika, the Oslo Cathedral, the Parliament, and the Royal Palace. A quick tram to Frogner Park brings us to a breathtaking sculpture collection at Vigeland Sculpture Park. Gustav Vigeland’s (Norway’s famed sculptor) sculpture park includes more than 200 sculptures in bronze, granite, and cast iron and represents the circle of life. We will finish the night with a warm, get-together dinner. (B, D)

Friday, September 6
Enjoy a bountiful breakfast buffet before boarding the ferry to Bygdoy Peninsula. We will visit the Norsk Folkemuseum, otherwise known as the Norwegian Museum of Cultural History, where you will see over 160 historic buildings that were built as early as the 1200s! We will visit the Fram Museum where you can board the 19th century Polar Exploration ship before enjoying a scrumptious lunch on the Peninsula. Following lunch, we will ferry back to visit City Hall. Next, we will time travel back to 1299 to visit King Hakon V and his Akershus Castle and Fortress that was built to protect and provide a royal residence for the city. Enjoy the rest of your unplanned day doing some shopping on Karl Johan Shopping Street before venturing to find the perfect little café for dinner. (B, L)

Saturday, September 7
Our early morning train and ferry will lead us to our spectacular destination for the next few days, the Norwegian Fjords. Leaving Oslo, we will head for mountain top village of Myrdal. At Myrdal, we will board the historic Flam Railway for a captivating train ride that descends 2800 feet to the small Fjord town of Flam. After a brief stop for lunch in Flam, we will board a fast ferry to the stunning Sognefjord village of Balestrand. Our home for the next two nights is the award winning, 4th generation , historic Kviknes hotel. You will fall in love with the lovely public rooms as well as the charm of your individual hotel rooms. Everywhere you look, you will see mountains with sheep or cows, church steeples, and beautiful red buildings. Our dinner together in their large dining room with windows on all sides will be like none other you have had. Relax and take in the majesty of the setting before retiring for the evening.  (B, D)

Sunday, September 8
Once again, we will find our way to that beautiful dining room for a plentiful breakfast buffet. Today we will experience close up the part of Norway most people come for, the Fjords. We will board Lars’s RIB Boat for a private tour down the Sognefjord where you will feel like you are entering an oil painting. We will continue on to the base of the waterfall, Kvinnafossen, which descends 120 meters. From here we will pass by an enormous Viking hero, a stone medieval church, and Lars’ farm which is a 9th generation farm growing plums, apples, and raspberries. We will spend our day enjoying the Fjord farming with a cheese tasting, Balholm cider distilling, Norsk museum, St Olav’s Church, and hiking or casual strolls down the country lanes of Balestrand. We will end the evening with dinner as the sun sets on our slice of heaven.  (B,L,D)

Monday, September 9
Today we will enjoy another early breakfast and board another ferry to complete our  far-reaching journey through the Sognefjord. Our destination will be the “city of seven mountains” — Bergen in western Norway. You will be in awe at the beauty we will experience. Once we arrive in Bergen, another city built on the water, we will make our way to the waters edge, renowned Norwegian  sweater factory, Oleanna, for a factory tour like none other. Freshen up at the hotel, enjoy a funicular to a mountain top, and our last evening together in Norway with a farewell dinner.  (B D)
