An Alpine Adventure like no other!
Since 1980, Siouxland Travel & Tours has been organizing and leading custom group tours all over the world. Join us in September 2027 as we tour together in luxury through Switzerland, Northern Italy, Austria and Germany. Our European adventure includes breathtaking train rides through the Alps, historic walking tours, mountain lakes, beautiful castles, Winter Olympic sites, authentic pasta cooking class, wine and beer tastings, apple strudel & pretzel making class, Mozart’s birthplace, home of the Sound of Music, a visit to the Dachau concentration camp, along with private transfers, beautiful hotel accommodations and much more. ITINERARY
DAYS 1 & 2 – SEPTEMBER 8 & 9 (ORANGE CITY TO ITALY) Your once in a lifetime experience begins in Orange City, IA with a deluxe motor coach transfer to the Minneapolis Airport with the Siouxland Travel representatives. We will depart from Minneapolis to Milan, Italy, Italy’s capital of fashion and a city that never stops. For lunch, we’ll dine together at a local restaurant and later take in the sights on a guided tour including the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, La Scala, Duomo di Milano, etc. In the evening, we’ll have a 3-course welcome dinner together at a local restaurant. (L,D)
DAY 3 – SEPTEMBER 10 (LAKE COMO & BELLAGIO) We’ll experience the stunning beauty of Lake Como’s lakeside villages, with a boat cruise on Lake Como to Bellagio the “Pearl of the Lake”. Enjoy Bellagio’s 360° views, cobblestone streets, and free time for lakeside lunch. Or visit the gardens at Villa Melzi. We’ll transfer back to Milan for the night. (B)
DAY 4 – SEPTEMBER 11 (MILAN) Buongiorno! In the morning, we take a guided tour to Da Vinci’s Last Supper museum in Milan and an opportunity to see Castle Sforzesco. In the evening. experience some savory and sweetness of Northern Italy with wine and an authentic pasta cooking class. “ Il Dolce Far Niente” (B,D)
DAY 5 – SEPTEMBER 12 (LAKE COMO TO LUCERNE) We begin with an early morning journey from Milan to Lugano by private coach transfer. Upon arrival in Lugano, we board a scenic train thru the Alps to Fluelen. We continue the journey by steam boat to Lucerne, Switzerland. Here we’ll do a lovely guided walking tour through Old Town Lucerne including the famed Chapel bridge, authentic Swiss heritage, and alpine landscapes. We’ll end this scenic day together in a local traditional Swiss restaurant in Old Town Lucerne. (B,D)
DAY 6 – SEPTEMBER 13 (LUCERNE TO JUNGFRAUJOCH) Today is an awe-inspiring full-day Alpine Excursion, by mountain railways, encompassing panoramic views and dramatic glaciers through Interlaken, Grindelwald, Jungfraujoch, and Lauterbrunnen. Arrive at Grindelwald Terminal and journey by cogwheel to the “Top of Europe” – Jungfraujoch where we will experience the Ice Palace. Enjoy the cascading waterfalls and cliffs of Lauterbrunnen as our private coach transfers us back to Lucerne for an evening dinner together and relaxation. (B,D)
DAY 7 – SEPTEMBER 14 (LUCERNE TO NEUSCHWANSTEIN/HOHENSCHWANGAU TO MUNICH) Rise and Shine, this morning we depart from Lucerne by private motor coach for a scenic journey to Munich. Along the way, we tour the fairy-tale Neuschwanstein Castle, made famous by Walt Disney, as well as the historic Hohenschwangau Castle. Have some free time to stroll the strasse and enjoy a local lunch. We’ll continue through the Alps as we make our way to Munich where we will enjoy dinner together in German style at the Hofbrauhaus. Tonight we stay in Munich. (B,D)
DAY 8 – SEPTEMBER 15 (MUNICH TO DACHAU) After enjoying a hot breakfast at the hotel, learn the cruel history of the Third Reich & take a WWII Walking Tour of Munich. Witness well-preserved landmarks of war time history. After lunch, transfer by private coach to Dachau for a guided, somber history walk and tour of the KZ-Gedenkstaette ( Concentration Camp Memorial Site). We’ll return to Munich for a Bavarian food tour, “a taste of Germany”. (B,D)
DAY 9 – SEPTEMBER 16 (SALZBURG) This morning we pack our bags and journey by train toward Salzburg, Austria, the home of Mozart and The Sound of Music filming. Experience old-town Salzburg charm, baroque architecture, fortress views, historic sights, beautiful gardens, and rich musical heritage. Enjoy a local lunch and then venture out for more sightseeing and take a guided tour of The Sound of Music movie setting. We’ll return to Salzburg for our evening dinner. (B,D)
DAY 10 – SEPTEMBER 17 (INNSBRUCK) We begin our day with a train ride through western Austria to Innsbruck, capital of the Alps, stunning medieval old town charm with dramatic mountain views. Interesting fact, it was also a Winter Olympic Games host in 1964 and 1976. In the afternoon, we’ll take a Nordkette cable car from Innsbruck to Hafelekar – also know as the “Top of Innsbruck” offering a stunning panoramic view. We’ll head back to Salzburg for the evening. Dinner is at your leisure. (B,L)
DAY 11 – SEPTEMBER 18 (HALLSTATT) Today experience a visit to the historic lakeside salt village of Hallstatt where together we’ll take a cable car ride. Take a skywalk for a “Welterbeblick” and a guided walking tour of their unique fairytale-like Celtic village nestled in the beautiful Salzkammergut mountain region. Enjoy this town that sits right on the edge of a deep blue lake. After this amazing day, we transfer back to Salzburg where we will enjoy an evening cooking class on Apple Strudel and Pretzels. (B,D)
DAY 12 – SEPTEMBER 19 (DEPART FROM MUNICH TO HOME) Today, we bid the Alps and this Bavarian land adieu and begin our journey home. After an unforgettable Alpine Adventure, we’ll transfer to the airport for our flight back to the United States with memories of the Alps, castles, lakes and historic European cities.
